Students at Barrow Hall College have helped to pack 5,000 meals, which will be sent to schools and orphanages in Zimbabwe as part of a national charity project.

A group of 45 Year 12 students gave up their free time to support the Million Meal Miracle Project, working alongside the charity Feed the Hungry UK.

During the event, students took part in a simple, hands-on process to create bagged meals. They measured and packed ingredients including dried rice, soya, lentils and essential micronutrients, ensuring each meal was balanced and ready for distribution.

The Million Meal Miracle initiative aims to partner with 200 schools across the UK to host meal-packing events. The meals prepared will be dispatched to trusted partners in Zimbabwe and Somaliland, where they will be distributed to provide essential warm meals to children in schools and orphanages.

Over the next two years, Feed the Hungry UK, which operates in 29 countries, is aiming to pack and deliver one million meals to help nourish and empower school children in Zimbabwe and Somaliland.

The carefully prepared, nutritious meals will be sent overseas and distributed directly to those most in need, helping to provide reliable sources of food for children.

The event proved to be a rewarding and enjoyable experience, with students working together to make a real difference.
