Celebrating a great first half term

It’s been a busy start to the school year across Omega Multi-Academy Trust, from welcoming our new starters to celebrating sporting success and taking time to focus on mental health and wellbeing.
As we reach the end of the first half term, we can reflect on some of the great learning, creativity and fun activities taking place in our schools.
This September, we were delighted to welcome our youngest pupils as they began their school journeys in Reception while in our secondary schools, new Year 7 students made the exciting move up to high school, quickly settling in and embracing the new challenges and opportunities.
As a Trust, we launched the Autism Education Trust’s Work-Based CPD Programme across our schools. By engaging in this nationally recognised training, colleagues are showing their commitment to delivering high-quality, inclusive education. The programme enhances autism awareness and helps staff implement best practice to support all pupils.
At Alsop High School, pupils have begun taking part in the IntoUniversity Programme, a national education charity initiative that supports young people to reach their full potential and explore future opportunities in higher education and careers. Through engaging workshops and activities, students have been building confidence, teamwork and communication skills while learning more about university life.
Across the Trust, pupils and staff joined thousands of others nationwide to mark World Mental Health Day and support the Hello Yellow campaign. Children showed their support by wearing yellow and taking part in activities focused on kindness, positivity and wellbeing.
Sporting success has also been a highlight this term, with pupils taking part in a range of activities including cheerleading, boxing, wrestling, cross country, football, rugby and even archery!
Learning has extended beyond the classroom with students visiting Liverpool to explore the city’s geography and also its history as part of Park Road Community Primary School’s World War II topic. Great Sankey High School students also visited Bridgewater Hall in Manchester to experience the Halle Orchestra live in concert.
Our younger pupils have also been busy discovering the world around them, from exploring the outdoors in Forest School sessions to getting creative in art and design and even learning vital life-saving skills in Mini First Aid courses.
It’s been a great start to the year with much more planned in the coming months!
