Omega Multi-Academy Trust pupils and staff joined thousands of others across the country to celebrate World Mental Health Day and take part in the Hello Yellow campaign.
Throughout the week, schools promoted wellbeing and self-care through a variety of engaging activities and ended with children being encouraged to wear yellow to show their support for the day and the charity Young Minds.
At Great Sankey High School, students engaged in a week of activities promoting positive mental health, including Key Stage 3 wellbeing walks and Think for the Future sessions focusing on resilience and self-awareness.
Parents were also invited to an online safety workshop designed to support young people’s wellbeing in the digital world. The school welcomed the Warrington Wolves Foundation, who delivered their Ahead of the Game mental health programme. Meanwhile, student Wellbeing Ambassadors sold yellow ribbons throughout the week, raising funds to support Young Minds.
Bradshaw Primary School pupils marked the occasion with a focus on mindfulness and kindness. Year 4 children began the day with calming mindfulness colouring before writing their own meditation scripts, taking part in chair yoga, and joining a “kindness and connection circle” to share positive messages with one another.
At Park Road Community Primary School, children embraced the Hello Yellow spirit by dressing in yellow, decorating biscuits, and enjoying mindful colouring sessions alongside their My Happy Mind learning programme.
Chapelford Community Primary School pupils explored creative ways to talk about emotions and support each other. Children made their very own Worry Monster Box in which children can post written worries to share their feelings. Younger pupils designed sunflower-themed posters promoting kindness, while Key Stage 2 students wrote personal pledges on how to care for their own and others’ wellbeing.
The day was captured by the school’s Mental Health Ambassadors, who used fun photo booth props to document the joy and positivity shared across the school.
Across the Trust, the week’s activities highlighted the message that mental health matters every day. By coming together in yellow, pupils and staff celebrated the importance of looking after themselves and each other, showing that small acts of kindness and understanding can make a big difference.
