Pupils show teamwork and sportsmanship on the rugby field

Pupils from Westbrook Old Hall Primary School showed commitment, teamwork and sportsmanship when they took part in a Warrington Wolves Foundation Rugby Festival recently.
The group of Year 3 and Year 4 pupils embraced the opportunity to take part in the event, applying the skills they have been developing in school and demonstrating a genuine enthusiasm for sport.
The festival was part of Warrington Wolves’ Primary School Rugby League programme, which is delivered in Warrington schools over a six-week period, ending with children coming together to play the sport.
The project aims to give children the opportunity to develop their rugby league skills and acts as a pathway into community rugby league clubs.
During the day, the children represented Westbrook Old Hall Primary School exceptionally well, with event staff praising their positive attitudes, respectful behaviour and willingness to challenge themselves. Their conduct reflected the school’s high expectations and the Omega Multi-Academy Trust’s shared values, as they engaged confidently with coaches, referees and pupils from other schools.
Sporting opportunities such as this form an important part of the Trust’s commitment to extending learning beyond the classroom, building confidence and encouraging healthy, active lifestyles.
We are extremely proud of all the children who took part and the way they represented their school and the Trust. Thank you also to the parents and carers who supported the event and helped to make it such a positive experience for the pupils.
