Culture, Creativity and Sport

Culture, creativity and sporting events have filled a bumper-packed term across Omega Multi-Academy Trust schools.
From theatre trips and author visits to hands‑on workshops and sporting challenges, pupils have been involved in a wide range of activities since the start of the Spring term.
Students have stepped into a world of culture, taking part in theatre experiences, creative sessions and inspiring encounters with authors, which have been aimed at nurturing a lifelong love of reading and the arts.
At Sankey High School, young musicians have begun preparations for a once‑in‑a‑lifetime opportunity to compose and perform live in the pit orchestra at the Liverpool Empire Theatre on Tuesday 9 June as part of the English National Ballet’s Sleeping Beauty Schools Programme.
The school also hosted a two‑week Literary Festival, filled with activities and visits. Highlights included a trip to the Liverpool Empire to see the National Theatre production of Dear England, followed by workshops from the National Theatre. Pupils also enjoyed talks from celebrated authors Sophie Anderson and Mark Illis, who shared insights into their writing journeys.
At Bradshaw Primary School, every child took part in a poetry workshop led by poet Paul Delaney. The sessions gave pupils the chance to build confidence, experiment with language and perform their own original poems.
Over at Burtonwood Community Primary School, Year 2 enjoyed a visit from author Carol McMahon, who read her short stories and spoke passionately about her love of books and writing.
Young artists from across the Trust have been showcasing their creativity in this year’s Warrington Primary Arts Network (PAN) Exhibition. Using the theme “Once Spoken, Forever Echoed,” pupils explored a range of well‑known quotes to produce their own artwork. Their pieces are now displayed in Golden Square Shopping Centre, alongside contributions from 62 schools across Warrington. The exhibition remains open to the public until 21st April.
Reading continued to take centre stage as children and staff across the Trust celebrated their love of reading with a number of activities, events and costumes to mark this year’s World Book Day. Whether they discovered new worlds, stepped into the shoes of fascinating characters or gained new knowledge, our schools each put their own unique spin on the occasion.
Science also came to life during Science Week, as children across the Trust took part in hands‑on experiments and investigative activities. From bubble experiments to junk modelling, pupils embraced a week of discovery designed to spark curiosity and scientific thinking.
Sporting achievements and outdoor pursuits have also been a large part of this term’s focus.
Budding footballers at Burtonwood Community Primary School visited two Premier League training facilities to develop their skills. Year 5 enjoyed an unforgettable tournament at the Liverpool FC Academy, while Year 6 recently took part in a Football Festival at Manchester City, competing against schools from across Greater Manchester.
At Alsop High School, Year 9 pupils travelled to Coniston for an exciting outdoor adventure at the Lakeland Adventure Centre. The trip gave students the chance to build teamwork, resilience and essential life skills while making lasting memories with their friends.
This term has proven to be bursting with opportunity, imagination and achievement across every corner of the Trust.
